Folding Screen

My impending move to what will likely be a studio apartment brought to my attention the need for a room divider. Being as I am, I would be satisfied with nothing less than the most handsome of room dividers. I made this one out of laser-cut MDF framed in birch, painted in my custom-mixed turquoise paint. It had to be exactly the colour of the river on a gray afternoon in spring.

I took the pattern from a carved stone wall at the Alhambra Mosque in Spain. It wasn't my original purpose, but I think it's a little bit grand to have a piece of such an amazingly beautiful building to keep for your own.
