I wish I could say I did this all by hand... or perhaps even that I COULD do it by hand. I'm handy with fretwork, but I've never made a serious attempt at carving. No idea why I haven't, but that's beside the point.
This was all done in Rhino and carved out in a mere 2 hours on the CNC machine. This is a bit of a departure for me, being the technology hater that I am. I had to make the computer model TWICE because my thumb drive choked and blanked it all out almost as soon as I'd finished the first version of it. Precisely why I hate technology, that. This was done for a class, and the class drove me nuts for about the first half of it because my little brain couldn't comprehend that doing anything on the computer could produce an actual, tangible object. After finally learning the software, though, I rather like it.
I the automill! It's like watching TV, except it actually DOES something. Like carve stuff. I plan to use it for making printing blocks for making printed papers and fabrics. And then for more frames and other assorted junk.
7" x 8" (interior dimension 3" x 4"), solid walnut (oiled)
OMFG!!! I soo wanna do stuff like this, this looks awesome G!!! so you design like a 3D picture of it and the machine makes copes or them with wood?! Am I understanding correct?
I really like that and it almost made my fav listing, but, you CNC it. Not that it's not good work, just it wasn't done by hand. But I really do like it. CNC machine's are nice for when projects need detail and quickly!
Thank you Have you ever had the chance to play with the CNC? Keeping busy as in busy with things not chemistry-related... uuggghhh, that class is mean.
